What Does a Home Inspector Do?
The job of a home inspector is to provide an objective, third party opinion of the home's condition at the time of inspection. A proper inspection will provide a detailed report in writing with pictures exposing potential problem areas they have discovered. While no home inspection can determine the future, it will provide a good overview of the home's condition and possible problem areas in need of attention.

A typical home inspection will range in cost from $300 to $500 depending on the square footage of the home. Your agent can provide you with a list of inspectors in the area from which you may choose. It is our company policy not to recommend any particular inspector due to possible conflicts of interest. You should ask any potential inspector:
  • For references from past customers?
  • How long they have been doing inspections?
  • Do they provide any guarantees?
  • What they will check for?
  • Are they licensed and insured?
  • Will the report be in writing with supporting pictures?
  • What items will not be covered by the inspection?
  • Are there additional charges to check for radon or other harmful gases?
Should you get a home inspection even if it's new? We think so. Building a home is not a perfect science and while most builders do an excellent job, some do not. It is always a good idea to inspect.
